Thriving on the Porch
I've just gotten back from a rejuvenating trip to Taos, NM.
For those of you who have never been to New Mexico, the
reason I love it so much involves all the wide open space
and huge quiet.
The land and landscape calls me to be present. In the
moment, I breathe in the glory of God. I didn't used to
know this about New Mexico. I'm not an outdoors woman,
fisherman, rock climber, mountain climber, mountain biker
or even a hiker! I have learned to sleep in a camper.
But I don't like it much. So, I've also learned how to
rent lovely little adobe homes and sit on the porch in
the shade. And, there I thrive!
I know God more, I connect with nature more and I accept
me more! I'm not an outdoorswoman, yet I love to be
outdoors. As long as my comfy bed and hot shower are
just inside. To think I almost missed this intimate
relationship with God and nature because I used to think
you had to be willing to sleep on the ground to really
see the moon and the stars!
Where do you thrive? I'd love to hear your unique story, too.
