Living Gratitude
Last week, I shared a bit about a spiritual growth
workshop I recently attended. One of the participants,
Sally, the four-year-old daughter of the hosts, helped
me take gratitude to a whole new level! Yes, a
four-year-old!!!
Sally verbally expressed gratitude for the air she
breathes, the trails she hikes on and each of the
people she loves. She helped me to see how much I
take for granted! Before I spent the weekend with
Sally, I wrote in my gratitude journal almost every
day. Now, I see that journal as just the beginning,
perhaps my gratitude pump primer . . . Sally has
prompted me to live my whole life as one great big
gratitude prayer!
I now thank my bed for a good night's sleep, my chair
for supporting me so beautifully and my phone for
connecting me to so many wonderful people.
Wow, when I turn on the water, I have so much
gratitude that it now takes longer to wash my face!
Thank you to the water for sustaining me, thank you
to the faucet and the pipes for delivering water on
command, thank you to the hot water heater for warming
the water that feels so good on my face, thank you to
the wash cloth that brings that luscious warm water to
my face, thank you for my lovely face that I get to
share with the world . . . Phew, you can see how it
goes . . .
So: would you care to join me and Sally in this
incredibly juicy, connected and present way of moving
through the day?!
May "Happy Thanksgiving" deeply mean something to you
as you even attempt to count your infinite
blessings . . .
